Bio
Dr. Carlos Lopez is Assistant Professor in the area of Religions of South Asia. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Religion at the Florida State University and earned his Ph. D. in Sanskrit and Indian Studies at Harvard University. He has taught courses in World Religions, Religions of South Asia, Introduction to Islam, and Sanskrit language at the Florida State University (FSU), Wright State University (WSU) and Willamette University. His research interest focuses on ancient Indian Religions (Vedic religion). Dr. Lopez will teach introductory courses to the Hindu Tradition (Religions of Asia, Gods and Goddesses of India) as well as advance topical courses dealing with specific dimensions of the Hindu tradition (Hindu Texts and Contexts, Rebirth and Karma in Ancient Indian Literature, and Hindu Dharma). He will also teach Introduction to Sanskrit. He is working on a book manuscript, Paippalada Samhita 13 and 14: Critical Edition, Translation and Commentary, to be published in the Harvard Oriental Series.
